Do these out perform the previous Type R speakers?
Yes the sound quality is significantly better and performance has been enhanced.
Do these include grills?
No they do not they are optional due to most installations being behind facotry door panels and grills.
The R2-S652 is the 2-Way PRO model of the new 2022 R-Series speaker line-up. It features a 16,5cm door woofer and a 4,3cm tweeter with up to 40kHz frequency response.
The door woofer and the mid-range speaker feature all-new glass-fiber reinforced cones. This material is very stiff and extremely light-weight, resulting in a super-fast response and highly accurate music reproduction.
The PRO models (R2-S635 and R2-S652) feature high-quality aluminum baskets – resulting in high stiffness and can carry heavier magnets without warping.
The all-new magnesium hard-dome tweeters deliver clear, detailed music reproduction and play up to 40kHz (Hi-Res Audio).
You can simply remove the installation frame and the trim ring of the R-Series tweeter to minimize its overall size and diameter.

Title: One woofer dead
Review: Installed it, and found out one of the woofers is not working. I live all the way in kenya. So I can’t send it back or get a refund. Never ever buying alpine speakers again and suggest no one to buy them either. Quality has really gone down the drain. Used to be a good company years ago. Definitely not anymore.
