Title: Great drum kit for the price!
Review: I have been looking at electronic drums for awhile now, and came close to buying a used set locally. However, they were rubber heads not mesh, and I needed mesh heads if I was going to learn how to play, and not get divorced in the process. I play ukulele, and one of my first ukes that I bought was a Donner tenor. I’ve had it for a couple years now, and really like it. When I saw Donner had a drum kit with mesh heads, I figured why not take a chance. The set arrived well packed in a very nice box. One thing to be aware of, the box weighs 60lbs, so you might need a helper to get in in the house. Everything in the box is packed in individual labeled boxes, which was a nice tough. Instructions were very clear, and I think it took me all of an hour to get everything assembled. They include all tools needed as well.Pros:The rack is metal, and very solid. Also, both pedals are metal, which was a pleasant surprise. The mesh heads are nice, and very quite.Cymbals seem to have dual zones, and can be choked.Snare and high hat are dual zone as well, with the snare rim being, well, a snare rim hit.The drum module has the ability to add a third cymbal, although I am not sure Donner has this for sale yet.Sounds are quite good for a beginner kit. You get a total of 15 different drum kits, as well as the ability to change each drum sound to make you own custom kit.Built in metronome, and demo music. The music is 30 tracks from different genres, and is nice to drum along to.Line in jack, so you can plug your phone in, and jam away to your own tunes.Cons:The only con I can find, may not be a con at all, hence I didn’t remove a star for it. Another reviewer had issues using the USB MIDI to connect to Garageband, and I had the same issue. What happens is it works fine for about 10 seconds, then completely stops. I can unplug it from the iPad, and plug it back in, and it’s fine for another 10 seconds, but then stops. What I found, is that this seems to be an issue not just with these drums, but with certain keyboards as well. It seems that plugging a USB hub into the iPad/computer, and then plugging the drums/keyboard into that, fixes the problem. I have no idea why this works, but I do have a hub on order, and will update this review if it does fix the problem. Conclusion:I think this is a great kit for the money, and if you are a beginner, go ahead and get the option with the drum throne included, as you will need it. I did not mention it, but the stand folds up, so you could easily slide this behind a couch, or put in a closet when not in use.

Title: Great Set
Review: I’ve been drumming for around 7 years now and this is a great drum set for its price. Anyone wanting to learn drums and get a good set for a great price, this is the one. Putting the set together is a very easy task and only takes around an hour. Just be careful when plugging in the pins to the module, it is very easy to break the pins. The box comes very organized and has everything you need to assemble and play it. Also, the position of almost everything is adjustable. The size of the pads and cymbals are good. They are not the largest. The drum throne and kick pedal are not the best, but they work. I would recommend replacing both when you get the chance. I’ve played on this set for almost 5 months now and have had no issues.

Title: Fantastic starter e-drumset
Review: Great beginner drumset that’s both cheap and with the important parts being quite durable. This drumset is comparable in many ways to the Alesis Nitro max, but after comparing it with an Alesis Nitro max that a friend of mine got after I had gotten the donner, I’m thinking that the donner is actually better in most ways.[pros]* The drumset feels quite durable, compared to the Alesis Nitro max that I’ve tried out. It doesn’t wobble very noticably when playing. As well, beyond the seat and drumsticks, no part of the drumset has degraded in quality since I bought it (and I have been playing it daily for nearly 9 months now). The drumset feels very responsive once I got the hang of how you’re supposed to make each of the sounds.* The drumset is very adjustable. I’m somewhat tall, but I’ve adjusted the drumset so that this isn’t a problem for me. You will need to make sure that the poles on the drumset are completely vertical in order to get the most height out of it.* The kickdrum tower is quieter than a yamaha tower that I’ve tried due to it’s size. It’s size also means that I’ve been able to hook up my double kick to it (I bought an iron cobra 900 off ebay a month ago). It doesn’t shake the ground as much, which is great. The tower is rubber, which means that its wear is quite visible compared to a mesh tower, but it doesn’t seem to affect the playing at all.* The kick drum pedal works and feels great (personally think it feels better than the Alesis nitro max). It’s a bit light making it able move around a bunch unless it’s attach to the ground/mat, and it’s design can make the end hop off the ground a bit if you’re doing aggressive doubles on it, but that’s never really been a problem. Since it is a pedal it will need maintenance, as after 7 months of use, it has started squeaking. This just requires some oil.* some of built-in sounds from the module are quite good, though this is mostly the base ones. Though the adjustability of the drumset within the module is nice. You a can make presets which allocates different sounds to different of the preset drumsets.* Drum module has a metronome that has adjustable tones. There isn’t an ability to exclusively increase the volume of the metronome, but you can find a note that is quite piercing making the metronome very audible.* Drum module also has adjustable volumes for high and low end, which is very nice. I don’t use much of the features of the drum module, but I suppose they’re nice to have.* Drum module can export both midi and direct output. Though with the direct output, the metronome will also be outputted if you have that on, which isn’t ideal. There isn’t a direct input, but my setup isn’t fancy enough to need that.* There’s a spare crash cymbal input. I don’t use it, but it’s nice to have as a possibility. It would have been nice if the drumset came with the extra cymbal because a lot of song use an extra cymbal (i.e. a china cymbal or splash), but that would cost extra money.[cons] (there’s a lot of criticism here, but that would mostly be solved by buying a more expensive e-drum)* snare is quite small. This makes hitting your sticks together much easier, and generally doesn’t give much breathing room. It also makes accidentally hitting the rim of the snare quite easy to do.* The drumset doesn’t have too much dynamic expression to it, especially when compared to e-drums like roland. The quietest note you can make on the snare isn’t actually that quiet, and playing quieter doesn’t make any sound. Also, making ghost notes and accented notes are not as expressive. You can make them work, by being very deliberate with your playing, but it’s just harder. I find this to be the worst in the rim shot, which has almost no dynamics to it at all. This is not something that modifying the sensitivity on the module can fix.* The plastic on my seat broke after 5 months, so it’s no longer usable. The seat wasn’t very well built and adjusting it vertically is kind of a pain. I’ve since replaced my seat with a high quality roc-n-soc that I got off ebay, and I think that’s really what should be done for this kind of starter drumset. The seat is something to get you started, so that you can invest later to get a higher quality seat.* The drumsticks are also not the highest quality and are quiet susceptible to cracks along the grain. It’s frequent even in the tip of the stick, making hitting stuff sometimes feel a bit weird. I mostly use these sticks for my practice pad and have vic firth drumsticks for the drumset.* The pedals and kick tower aren’t terribly heavy, and they don’t grip to many surfaces. This has lead to them sliding around a lot, and I’ve had to attach velcro to the bottom of the pedals to get them to attach to my mat.* The highhat isn’t very advanced, as the pedal only allows for a binary output, either open or closed. This means that the drumset can’t do any half-open highhat playing or other more fancy highhat tricks.* There aren’t too many sounds from the drumset that I would actually use beyond the base one, making it so that I don’t have too many options for sounds. These days, I don’t use the drum module sounds at all and just use the midi out to my focusrite audio interface to connect up to ableton which has addictive drum sounds on it. I feel like the addictive drum sounds are more realistic and I get more flexibility.* The drumset doesn’t have bluetooth, which the Alesis nitro max has, but I don’t really care.* The mesh pads are rather bouncy when compared to the Alesis Nitro max. Though I don’t really mind. Maybe this can be fixed with tightening the pads more, but I haven’t really experimented much.* The wires on the drumset aren’t very long. I wanted to position the drum module in the middle so that my rather short usb cable could reach my computer, but doing so was stretching a bunch of the wires. The drum module cannot be placed on the right side with the length of the wires.conclusion:This was the first drumset I’ve owned and I’ve loved playing it. It supplies me with all the basics to practice the drums, and I haven’t felt like the feel of the drumset has been bad at all. I’ve played a yamaha drumset with rubber pads that has felt and sounded much worse than this, as well as the Alesis Nitro max which feels much less durable than this. The drumset doesn’t have a great seat or sticks, but with the drumset supplying me with these, I could get started much quicker. These can and should be replaced for higher quality equipment, but at least the inclusion of these doesn’t jack up the price much.

Review: owned acoustic drum set in the sixties , thought i give these ago and i am glad all over!! Totally taken back by the whole set, thats the quality ,different drum set ups from hard rock to jazz etc brilliant sounds.Headphones a great idea for self quiet playing or just plug into a amp.The price i paid £310 pounds is a complete steal, other reviews say it is difficult to build and the instruction manual is not great, just use common sense look at the donner drum set on their site and work from there.Only change i have made to the purchase is to upgrade the drum throne only due to no back rest and size (a little small for me} on the one provided,
