Title: How to review perfection?
Review: I have been in search of the prefect IEM for a long time now, even giving up on the format for a while. My first real foray into the IEM world was with the ATH-CKW1000ANV and they were where I found the sound I was looking for but it had numerous issues and led to the JVC HA-FXZ200 and these were exceptional but required using the tipple flange tips to get a great seal and the bass that would dig into the basement. After looking at a ton of reviews I made a major investment into the FIIO fh7… and was thoroughly disappointed. While a technically accurate headphone it was not one I got much enjoyment out of as it became sibilant at moderate volumes. In short they were not the headphone for me despite being the flagship at the time. Looking back I should have picked up the FH5 as it seems to have the musicality I am looking for. So buyers remorse is kicking in hard but FIIO throughs me a bone and announces that there is yet a higher end model coming and I do my best *shut up and take my money* and picked these up on launch day…. The presentation is lovely and everything feels like money well spent. The interchangeable 1/8″ 2.2mm and 4.4mm are a boon and must be praised. And speaking on the cable I give it full marks it looks lovely and feels good in the hand.On to sound. These are it. This is what music should sound like to me when I put these on with no eq or trickery. They rock and crank up without any hint of sharpness or overdrive. One of my favorite test tracks is Finks live troubles what you are in. In this you get an acoustic performance that you can hear the strings plucked while the acoustic bass guitar vibrates your eardrums but never gets muddled and the box drum is clear. All summed it is the best experience I have had to date and I set the bar high here with the headphone corner defended by the meze elites and the speaker corner defended by my legacy signatures. The FIIO’s pack all that fighting power in a manageable price tag.Ear bliss with no down sides… would be a six out of five if I could but five or five stars will suffice.

Title: A healthier alternative.
Review: Pretty good for a non apple quality product, but if you want better audio without the blue tooth radiation sensitivity i suguest the Andromedas Emerald Sea by Campfire but be prepared to pay top dollar. The Andromedas are sworn to match apple quality if not better. The only down side is that the stock silicone cups keep falling off after some time.

Title: If one likes punchy bass, the FH9 is endgame in the 500 bucks range
Review: EDIT: September 2023It took me a while to get here. By finally getting to know the house sound of FiiO – i.e., warm midbass with moderate treble – ended up getting the FH9 once again in late 2022. And what a comeback.Stock eartips are fine but there is a whole world out there. As of today, my favorite eartips with the FH9 are the AZLA SednaEarfit, AZLA MAX and the Final Audio Type E.I liked this earphone so much that ended up getting the other one to be used wirelessly. If you’re into measurements, look at the crinacle graph with B&K 5128. It is impeccably neutral with a bass boost. Endgame. Period.—–Original review from April 12, 2022Original title: “Ended up not replacing my SE846″The only aspect that the SE846 beats the FH9 is related to comfort, IMHO. The FH9 is bulky and was too big to my average sized ears. A couple of long sessions were fatiguing. Other than that, the FH9 is simply better in every other aspect when compared to the SE846. The very well balanced tuning, build quality and accessories. Wonderful job from FiiO here.I played a lot with the different tips and tuning filters. I have read somewhere that the FH9 has a V-shape tuning. Not to my ears. It has a somewhat punchy bass, good mids and a very good lower treble. Even with the bass filter and tips, this may not be enough for the bass heads out there. I wish the FH9 would be even punchier in this regard.I really wanted to keep this IEM. However, I still own the SE846 and did not want to keep a redundant “SE846 on steroids” around. But the real deal breaker for me was the fit. Other than that, the FH9 is a great all-rounder and is very forgiving on poorly recorded tracks. I would say it has a neutral signature with elevated bass.EDM is really fun to listen with the FH9 so is the SE846. I just wish the FH9 existed before I purchased my little Shures in late 2020.

Title: It’s not a better IEM. It’s a different experience.
Review: I still can’t believe I spent some much money on an IEM, but even more surprised with my decision to keep it. I initially got a BTR5-2021 mostly out of curiosity and amazed at how much difference it makes, so I decided to pair it with FH9 to see where it takes me – and I ended up at perfection.I’m using the out-of-the box setting, not tried any filters or different pads yet, because I’m really liking what I’m hearing. I’m not familiar with audiophile terminology, so will try to describe it in my own terms. It offers a perfect (and non-competing!) balance of treble and bass. In other words, violins are allowed to hit a high pitch while Contrabass is hitting all the low notes independently, without getting in each other’s way. This gives you an open wide range and even positional awareness — I can almost tell the physical location of different instruments. I can also hear things that I couldn’t hear before. E.g: The weird “hisss” sound I was hearing in usual earphones happens to be the violinist breathing! I can also hear all imperfections perfectly, which make my brain happy because it knows it’s real.I won’t comment on sound isolation, leakage, and comfort. They don’t matter for me because my only purpose to get FH9 was sound quality and it simply delivered it. Yeah, perhaps it helps to mention that it may be a bit heavy but not at a point for me to feel any discomfort. I can keep it on for hours without a problem.I recommend FH9 100%, and preferably pairing it with BTR5, if you can afford it. It’s not just better than usual stuff – it’s a whole new experience that I believe all humans should experience at least once in their life.

Review: My second pair of IEMs. I bought these after trying the FH5s Pro, which turned out to be extremely shrill in the treble end. The FH5s have good stereo dimension, and I was impressed with the subsonic bass, but the treble was starting to aggravate my tinnitus.I didn’t like the idea of doubling the cost of my initial £250 purchase, but I have to say I’m extremely pleased that I did. They have all the characteristic of the FH5sPro, but with smooth as silk treble, better mid range, and that gigantic base that I grew to love very quickly. If you are thinking about using these for travelling, I would NOT recommend them – purchase something noise cancelling. They lose all that magic when driving my car or on public transport. The open ear design means that the bass becomes drowned with surrounding low end frequencies. You keep wanting to turn them up, which is not good for your hearing. Get some AirPods or something similar.Remember these are for critical listening, less about travelling. I have heard sound quality with these IEMs above my other headphones, HD650s or Grado 325is, and yet they fit in my pocket.Truly amazing, but if you’re wanting high fidelity on the underground or other noisy environments, I would save your cash and get some noise cancelling headphones like the Apple AirPods.

Review: La qualité est là . .
