Title: A very pleasing set of headphones
Review: I was initially hesitant to buy these headphones in a world where every recommendation for sub-$500 headphones is usually a pair of Hifiman or Sennheisers, with everything else feeling a bit drowned out. FiiO is newer to the game for headphones, but I really think these really hit in a great spot. The included case and accessories make it these feel like a very premium package. The headphones themselves feel incredibly solid. The cable is nice and comes with just about any termination you could need for your setup. These are not light headphones, but they sit very securely and comfortably on my head, so I don’t feel fatigued by their weight. As for sound, these definitely hit the perfect spot for me. A warm but clear sound. The highs are present but don’t fatigue me during long listening periods. These are very comfortable both to wear and listen to.At the end of the day headphones are really about subjective experiences, you can never really know how they will sound to you compared to another person. I find the FiiO FT5 to be well worth it, and I’m glad I gave them a chance.

Title: The best headphones I ever owned
Review: FiiO was a brand that always made me curious, but the price was always something I wasn’t brave enough to commit to until now and honestly I don’t regret it one bit. You’re definitely gonna need a DAC to drive these to their fullest potential but it’s an amazing listening experience. Planars give it a smooth bass and I can still hear all the mids as clear as I can with its broad and sizable soundstage. The two pairs of pleather and suede pads gove different ranges but I haven’t tried the suede’s yet. All in all you’re definitely giving your money’s worth. Definitely look for cheaper options though if you’re wanting to save $100 or something along those lines, but if you really want to, I’d say go for it!

Title: Amazing Headphones
Review: I’ve consistently enjoyed these headphones over the year. This example of planar technology is exemplary and remarkable for their musical clarity and accuracy. The benefits that planar has over dynamic drivers is made starkly apparent: Dynamic (conventional) drivers disperse a composite of the musical source from an electromagnet at the center of the speaker cone, mixing across the surface as it travels to the edge. On the other hand, the planar magnetic surface reproduces the individual acoustic waves as modes of independent Bessel functions, resulting in a remarkable clarity that’s immediately apparent. In other words, the interference patterns characteristic of propagating acoustic waves occurs in the air, avoiding the additional constructive destructive patterns occurring on the transducer of conventional drivers. The result is pure joy. :)I should add, considering the quality, these are an incredible bargain.

Title: Balanced sound, great design, a great planar choice for those who don’t care for Hifiman
Review: I have several sets of Fiio’s IEMs, all outstanding, so I was very excited to try their first crack at a planar headphone. I tend to prefer dynamic driver and was pretty disappointed with Hifiman’s Sundara in terms of build quality and sonic signature, but the price point of FT5 was just right to try again. Overall, I find headphones (and especially headphone reviews) very frustrating — it’s impossible to settle on one set if you like a range of acoustically challenging music (in my case, electronic music, industrial, techno, experimental acoustic music, and some heavy metal). For me, the FT5 delivers excellent midrange performance for well produced and mastered music across a broad spectrum, but it has notable limitations. I’d been listening to ZMFs for a few years on a variety of desktop tube amps (Feliks, Primaluna, and Woo Audio) and I felt that the FT5s performed well enough on a good quality solid state amp that i was confident in selling both my tube amp and my two sets of ZMFs. The Fiio headphones convinced me that the 5-10% of additional sound quality I got from the ZMFs just didn’t justify their price or fussy build quality. It’s an impressive feat and I find that I do not look back or miss the ZMFs or the tubes. If you like crisp electronic music (Terre Thaemlitz, Kelly Lee Owens, Monolake) the FT5s sound fantastic — I do not feel any desire to upgrade to more expensive planars or dynamic drivers.Limitations, however, are notable. The FT5s do not reproduce lo-fi or poor quality recordings in a forgiving manner, so forget them if you like a lot of “recorded on a dictaphone black metal,” terribly compressed 90s CDs, thin sounding 80s indie music. Further, they have limitations in the upper treble and sub bass — I found unpleasant distortion when listening to some speaker-taxing ambient music (Lustmord, Deep Listening Band, and Lucette Bourdin) and they could not reproduce the deep bass as well as some headphones I have in the same price range, including the before-mentioned Fiio IEMs and my Sennheiser HD 660S2. I still need other headphones for a large portion of my collection.A few other details. Build quality is excellent. I am a huge fan of Fiio’s design aesthetic and I think these are a masterpiece in looks and very comfortable. There is a great selection of accessories and the case is high quality. I personally did not care for one set of the pads – I thought I hated the headphones until I put the leatherette set on, after which I was 100% sold on them. Don’t be fooled by the impedance or Fiio’s press materials – these require an amp with power and I get far better results from something with dedicated power supply (my desktop amp is an iFi Zen Can Signature). They will work on weaker dongle DACs or bluetooth amps such as Fiio’s BTR7, but they don’t perform as well.Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the FT5. Like Fiio’s IEMs, it’s terrific value for money in the right use cases. Just be aware they are not perfect all-rounders. With the right music, they are extremely hard to beat at the price point.

Title: Your going to need something to help drive these, but other then that they are awesome
Review: If your spending around $500 bucks for a set of planar magnetic headphones you know that it’s gonna need an Amp/DAC. These are really nice headphones, they have a really good soundstage. they have bass, but not an over the top V-curve. really good for most of my choices of music, from hip hop to hard metal. I reccomend looking into a DAC with USB C if your just starting out, this should make it so you can use it with your phone/tablet/computer.

Title: Awesome headphones for the money
Review: I have had lots of headphones over the years but these are a different category. I really wanted to try the planar headphones but didn’t want to spend $2000 or more. These got great reviews and deserve them. They have great separation and detail but are smooth with great bass. They are very forward or present in the soundfield. I am sure some won’t prefer that but I like that sound.

Review: I got these at a good price ($599.00), and thought I would check them out.I love the look, the feel and the heft of them. The sound is very nice with solid bass. The mids are also pretty good and treble is not bright.Very happy overall and will likely be keeping them. I tend to buy, use and resell headphones pretty regularly will stay in the collection. Also, not hard to drive, which is nice for a set of planar’s.
