Review: Haven’t used it to much except checking motors and regular terminals. But the meter leads are nice and it feels sturdy. Everything on it is very clear and so far I am pleased

Title: Great meter!
Review: This thing is awesome. I got this as more of a hobbyist tool, so keep that in mind. It comes with some really nice probes. The clamps are great for, well, clamping, and the needle tip probes can get into pretty small spaces if you’re needing to probe surface mount components. Also the carrying case is cool, nothing special, fairly lightweight and thin material, but better than nothing.

Title: Excellent DMM
Review: I’ve used a variety of Fluke DMMs and after years of hands-on evaluation of others’ units, I decided on the 179 with the EDA2 kit. This unit seems perfectly designed for electronics technicians and engineers, particularly those doing board bring-up and debugging new hardware. While many other DMMs have overlapping features, the 179 has all of the features that I regularly use and then some more. The EDA2 kit is essential for those working with ultra small SMT components. Imagine trying to get a standard probe on an 0201!

Title: This is the one you’ve been looking for.
Review: Love it! Fluke is the best for a reason.Picking which one you need for your task can be tricky, but this one does everything I need and more. Tough reliable, tested in the field. Leads work great, case fits nice. I will be adding more, just can’t beat the fluke. If you think it has too many features, look into the 117 or the 101. Don’t kid yourself, it makes a difference, just buy the fluke.

Review: I am trying to do more of my own repairs and need a tester. I have tried researching for a good multimeter, that would last, and be accurate. For the money, I thought this would be a great all around pick, even if it is a more professional, than I require.

Title: Solid meter, but wish it had a nicer carrying case.
Review: Just unpacked this product today. It is quite expensive so I’m only giving 4 starts for value, but Fluke has great equipment that lasts for lifetime so we will see…The only other things I have to mention is that I end up feeling like I had to buy a separate Fluke “T5-KIT Tester Accessory Starter Kit” To get the alligator clips and none automotive probes.Everything from the kit barely fits in the soft case in come in. This Chinese made soft nylon case is disappointing. The pictures for this product case are slightly misleading as it also shows an older style, seemingly higher quality case.

Review: my review is biased by 35 years of previous experience with an old reliable Fluke 123 which finally died recently. It had a slip on protective rubber cover with a belt clip that made carrying it around a cinch. My only disappointment with the new 179 is that it does not fit the old protective cover so i am left with this carrying case to haul around. I am planning to locate a smaller case/belt clip style. the kit itself came with everything listed and it does have the magnetic strap allowing two hands free for testing which is awesome. The original 123 set of leads still works and still fits this 179 perfectly so i continue to use them – the new ones sit in the case for specialty items where spring clips are needed. All in all it was a great price for a well rounded assembly of very useful accessories for essentially the same price as the 179 meter alone. Bought in November 2020 and used in industrial setting almost daily since. operates just as solidly and consistently as the old 123 did. I love it.
