Title: An incredible watch but…..
Review: After using several iterations of the Apple Watch, I decided to make a change. The change was not because I was displeased with the Apple Watch- I do think the Apple Watch, if you have an iPhone, is a great piece of tech. However, superficially, I just love the way the Garmin looks, specifically, the Tactix Delta, as well as I wanted something a bit more durable. As a disclaimer- I make a few comparisons to the Apple Watch- I of course am aware that the Apple Watch will have a huge advantage in terms of integration with an iPhone because Apple makes both, makes the software for both, etc….The Garmin seems to be the “undisputed” champ when it comes to distance running, marathons/marathon training, backpacking, etc, with its ability to track splits, and various data on the run. Additionally, the battery life is incredible. I don’t use many notifications, but i do track fitness data and I easily get several weeks on one charge, if not longer. The GPS tracking has worked very well for runs/walks. I have not had a chance to get it out on any trails yet. It does track some really nice data that you can review in Garmin Connect app on your phone. One downside is that you have to have the Garmin Connect software running on your phone to track data. If it’s not running, it will sync with the watch the next time you open it. Not a huge deal, but of course not as straightforward and streamlined as Apple. If you do not care about the Tactix looks/don’t need the few specific features it comes with, the Fenix 6 would likely be a better option (the current model at the time of this review) and potentially save a few dollars. I will say the Tactix Delta only comes in the size of the Fenix 6x (the largest watch face size) which is much larger than even the 44mm Apple Watch. I was concerned it would be too large, but I actually very much like the size. I am not a big person- 5’10″… so i don’t have particularly long arms/big wrists. But after a day or so I got used to it and do not in any way think it looks too big.I just wish Garmin and Apple could connect to create the ultimate watch- the durability and looks of the Garmin (which admittedly is more personal preference than anything) with the software/phone connectedness of the Apple Watch. Perhaps a future iteration! Over all, if you don’t need all the notifications or the great screen of the Apple Watch, or are looking for something built more for outdoors/activities/adventure (not saying the Apple Watch can’t do that- it does it well, and is getting better with new WatchOS releases… its just the watch itself in my experience has always been a bit more fragile), then the Garmin would be a great option for you. Or, of course, if you are an Android user, I think the Garmin would really be a great piece of tech to have if you like some notifications on your wrist that syncs well with your phone.Just my two cents for a very “average” user… I am not a marathon runner/backpacking through the swiss Alps… just enjoy fitness, being active, and trying new technology.

Title: This watch is incredible!
Review: The Garmin Delta Tactix is an outstanding product that I felt was specifically designed for my own use. All configurations, most notably land navigation, work splendidly and offer ease of access. Personally, I’m set on keeping this watch on my wrist well into the later stages of my military career.PROS – Excellent for military use. (Follows regulation)Accurate land navigation system.Configuration possibilities are limitless, as you can download Spotify and other apps for your own use.Comfortable watch that holds no glamour yet gets the job done.Incredibly well built and solid. I’ve used it in multiple jobs and it has never failed me despite being in rough environments.CONS -Charging cord for this watch is very special, and I have not seen it marketed anywhere. (Keep track of your cord).Price (Completely worth it though)This watch is incredible and will offer a useful assistant throughout your life in whatever fields you may pursue. I could go on for hours in favor of this watch, as compared to minimal worries that were negative.

Title: Overpriced but worth it.
Review: Coming from the fenix 5x plus titanium this is definitely a step up. Battery surprisingly seems to last longer though time will tell. WAY better standard watch faces than the standard one on the non tactix. It is faster than the 5x plus, which seemed a little slow especially with custom apps and watch faces. The bigger screen is awesome for map viewing! I will be using the night vision function as i do use nvgs during field rotations and am super exited to see it work. I would have bought a tactix charlie 2 years ago and should have waited for this one but am super glad I purchased this beauty. Sapphire is the way to go never had even a hint of a scratch on my last garmin and this one will no doubt be any different. I treat my watches just like any other issued gear so scratches on the bezel do not matter to me. My last garmin had DLC coating and surprisingly came out ok but still got scuffed a bit around the edges. I highly recommend this watch for people in the military with some extra disposable income. I wish they would make this in the 6s size because I would have definitely purchased it over this one. A TACTIX DELTA S take notes garmin.

Title: Good watch but it is just too big
Review: As far as the watch goes I dont know if its in my head but the display looks sharper than the fenix 6 pro and it also feels faster. I havent had any issues with anything notifications included. Everything my phone receives I get it on this watch including amazon notifications.Heart rate, gps, everything is pretty accurate and the watch feels solid. My only issue is size, Im 5’10 270lbs and I have 7.5 inch wrists. This watch still looks big on me. I wanted a tactical looking, low key watch, this just looks like a huge circle on my wrist begging for attention. I wish they would have made it a tiny bit smaller, even 49mm. Honestly it just looks kinda silly specially if you got small wrists. The big screen makes the maps very usable though so I guess you can’t have everything. Really with they would have made on same size as the Fenix 6 Pro

Review: This is going to be a longer review, as i had issues finding the info i wanted on this watch.I originally bought the Fenix 6 pro, which had a really bad purple screen/bad contrast when the backlight was on. I also found it a bit small for my tastes. These fenix and delta have the same “internals” and features. The tactix comes with some mostly irrelevant extras like night vision mode and stealth mode, which don’t really do anything special.I bought it for 2 reasons:1) I love the styling on this watch, much more so than the fenix 6X pro, this was a major deciding factor despite the price difference.2) THE SCREEN — the fenix series is about 50/50 or worse depending on which one you buy to get the “good” screen or the purple one. If you look at my pictures, with the backlight on, the tactix is clearly superior. Now, for the fenix, if you want a sure bet to get a good screen, you have to buy the solar. If you buy the sapphire version, it’s 50/50, if you buy the regular pro, you’re most likely to get a ‘bad’ one. The tactix has a very high chance of getting the good screen.Size difference:- i found the 6 pro a bit small and the bezel too pronounced, my wrist circumference is about 7.2 inches, which is average. I took a picture with both watches on my hand so you can get an idea.- I find the size clearly bigger, but i like it.- Weight wise, i can barely tell the difference.- I find the larger one to sit better on my wrist, the extra width means the strap sits more comfortably.Battery life:- going one size up, it’s about an extra 50% battery lifeSapphire screen:- going sapphire makes the screen much more reflective, this does reduce visibility, and it can be a bit distracting. But i don’t find it annoying enough to trade it for gorilla glass which is fairly scratchable. My experience with sapphire screens:I’ve had a Bering watch with a sapphire screen that’s about 10 years old, so i knew what to expect. It’s nearly impossible to scratch, in the 10 years i’ve had it still looks new with not as much as fine scratch, i believe only diamond can damage it and maybe sand.Other differences:- nothing else really, exactly the same as the fenix, same features.- i find the spo2 reading more accurate, as i said, this size sits better on my wrist so i feel the sensors have better contact as well.Which one should you buy?- If you like the look of the fenix series and dont care about screen, any will be great choice.- if you like the fenix series and absolutely want a good screen you have 2 choices:a) buy the solar for 100% guaranteeb) buy the sapphire but be ready for returns, which amazon might not likec) i believe garmin will accept a warranty claim on itSize wise, if you like bigger watches, 100% go for X or tactix delta. If you like smaller, go for the 6S, i’d only pick the regular 6 if you want the little bit of extra battery life.
