Title: Great Company with Fantastic Product that is Lots of Fun!
Review: I liked this company when all they offered me were some fancy lighting options.I didn’t care for the fact that I couldn’t buy extra extensions (rope without lights), and I didn’t care for the fact that I couldn’t buy extra control units (the piece that allows the user to connect with wifi/bluetooth), but I took a chance and bought this product anyway, and I love it.I did spent quite a bit of time figuring out how to get the lights up on my house without it being too obvious and I recommend everyone else know how they are going to go up before starting. Luckily, for me, I figured out a solution that worked with 8 segments. If I wanted to use the 9th segment, then I would need an extension or to run an extension cord, which I didn’t want to do, so I just opted to use 8 segments.Also, the lights are low-profile enough that it isn’t noticeable that decorative lights are up permanently (my HOA is kinda picky), and they look great. I get compliments on them all the time.I enjoy all the options for holidays, seasons, scenes, timing and/or advanced scheduling (turning on lights at sunset), functionality, working in time with music, options for creating scenes to make multiple products work together, etc., etc., etc. Honestly, there is so much functionality that it is almost overwhelming – even if you’re a techie/nerd like me. Seriously, it seems like they thought of almost everything.My kids absolutely LOVE playing with the phone app when connected to the outside lights. There were more than a few nights where you could have caught us outside randomly clapping, yelling, or singing because of the voice/music activation. Quite fun to play with, actually.And, like I said, I liked this company when all they offered were fancy lights, but this year, just less than a year after buying these specific lights, they completely stopped responding to connection with my phone. After two or three back and forth messages with customer help (also in the app), they sent me an ENTIRE NEW SET. All I wanted was a new control segment and I would have been good, but they sent me an entire new set. I was blown away. I didn’t have to “fight” the company like I have done with other companies. (I am fair, but if a product says it does something, it better do it; otherwise, that company will hear from me.)I highly recommend Govee and their lighting products. I have two nightlights for my kids, two or three sets of outdoor neon rope lights, and now 2 sets of outdoor permanent lights, and I love and use them all. And every product I own can all be found, maintained, and manipulated through the same app.I will note that Govee products are quite a bit pricier than what I’m normally comfortable paying for something like this, but, as the saying goes, “You get what you pay for,” and Govee is one of the best, if not the best when it comes to lighting solutions. Every time I look through their catalog, I find 5 more things that I “have to have”. And, honestly, once everything is said and done, are they really that much more? I mean, I have bought the same 50 feet of Christmas lights many years in a row because they stop working, but these lights are permanent and long lasting, so, really, are you spending more?

Title: Excellent lighting for outside home
Review: MOUNTING:Let me get this out of the way first – be very careful with what day you install these! The weather needs to be perfect around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit and low humidity. If you try to install them in cooler weather the sticky pads will not get sticky, and if you try to install them in warmer & more humid weather the sticky pads will not stick. I spent two hours putting all the lights up using the pads when it was 90 degrees outside & 80% humidity (Louisiana weather). Within 12 hours, the pads had released from my roof. I ended up purchasing an additional set of mounting brackets from Amazon which screw in. It took me 4 hours instead of 2 to install, but I know for a fact they will not be coming down again.AESTHETICSThese lights are very fun to look at. I installed them about 1.5″ from my wall and they give very bright 8″ triangles of light under each light. They look very similar to large Christmas lights. If you’re looking for more of a “flood of color” on your exterior wall, then you will want to mount them about 3″-4″ away from the wall.FUNCTION:OK, look the app sucks. It’s the worst part of the whole system. The system works great, the dusk to dawn function is cool, the ability to set schedules for different light colors through the year is cool, design your own lighting schemes (I did a Pac-Man theme for Halloween). It’s awesome.But just be prepared to spend a lot of time figuring out the app. It is not intuitive and is really suited to the 12-25 yo crowd. Anyone older is going to look at it and just be lost.OVERALL:I love these lights. I don’t know anything about longevity yet, I’ve only had them up a couple of months but they have been a blast to use. I highly recommend them.

Title: Wonderful lights… very pleased!
Review: I’m impressed with the quality and construction of these lights. I feel they will last quite a long time outdoors. Mine are installed under the edge of the roof out of the sun and worst of the weather. The power supply/control unit is mounted indoors out of the weather. The pre-set factory “scenes” in the app are wonderful; you could use just the pre-sets and have tons of different light shows on hand. If you dig deeper into the app, virtually unlimited color choices can be had; you can program the “zones” of the lights, or each light individually, to a different color. The things you can program these lights for is limited only by your imagination. You can save a light set-up you make to saved scenes and recall it later. Spend some time with the app and it will start to make sense. I love these lights and the effects they can do. I can go to the preset “candlelight”, turn the intensity down and I have a warm white wash of light for security or just a really nice, non-holiday no-nonsense glow on the house. I have good connectivity from phone/app to the controller via bluetooth and can change settings from inside the house and the front yard. App setup is very easy and I’ve never had a problem connecting.Installation: you will read this in some other reviews here and I’m going to repeat it to save you some heartache: before you get started, plan on buying additional mounting clips and screws. There are only enough clips and screws for every 4th light included with the kit. You can find clips very similar to these on Amazon with 1 screw holding the tab over the wire for a secure mount. I bought enough aftermarket clips of the same design to have one for every light on the string as I didn’t want to climb that ladder again to re-attach lights that had come un-stuck using the 3M tape only. Another bit of advice: toss the little screws that come with the light kit. They are small, are cheaply made, the Phillips heads strip easily and they do not self-tap easily. I threw all those little screws away and bought 1 inch self-tapping drywall screws that are much easier to get started as you work on a ladder while reaching up under the eaves of a house. Use one clip per light, use larger, better screws and your time on the ladder will be much more pleasant. Use a spacer to make sure the lights are mounted the SAME distance from your vertical wall. I used a piece of wood to make sure each light was stuck up exactly 1 inch from the vertical wall. The lights emit a cone of light downward and the edges of the cone are very sharp; if you randomly stick the lights up and don’t measure the distance from your vertical wall exactly, the cones of lights will be all different sizes and look a little wonky. I would buy these lights again with no hesitation. If you go with this set, buy extra clips and take your time with installation; you will have some really cool, professional looking lights that you can program to do tons of things.Dec. 2024 update:One year later and the light system still works perfectly. No maintenance of any kind was needed. I have created and stored four different Christmas patterns/scenes and team color scenes for our football team game days. I still recommend this set without hesitation.

Review: These are great. easy to manipulate for a desired theme, which could be a problem as my wife keeps asking for different themes. She loves them. Only advise is do not just use the sticky pads to secure the lights. Do it right the first time and use the screws as well. That way you will never have to get up on the Ladder again. You are all set for any theme, any season.
