Title: Pleasantly surprised.
Review: First, I don’t have a lot of experience with grinding meat and what experience I do have was with a small Oster food grinder. Second, I have only used my new grinder once but I did grind about 20lbs of pork and about 8 pounds of turkey. So, you should consider those two things when reading my review,My first impression of this grinder was it was heavier than I had expected. It’s not a problem, just an observation. The next impression I had was how well constructed it looked. Just by looks, it appears this product was built to last.Next I spent some time getting familiar with the parts of the grinder. Then, I assembled it to get ready for my first grind. The parts all fit easily and I like the accessory draw built into the unit. All of the grinding plates and the cutter fit into it easily. After assembly, I turned the grinder on and the sound it made was probably the most surprising thing about this grinder. I mean, it’s big, it’s heavy, and it’s a heavy-duty machine, surely, it must be loud too. My assumption was wrong, this grinder emits less noise than the small Oster grinders I had used in the past. Now for the actual grinding operation. I started with a coarse grind and the grinder made easy work of the pork I was feeding it…I had to hurry just to keep up with it. I see why they call it the “Big Bite” now. After chilling the coarse ground pork, I did the final fine grind. This grind is not as fast as the first coarse grind but it’s still fairly easy. Even though a small amount of silver skin got into the grinder, I did not experience any clogs during my initial use.So, after one use, I am very happy with the Big Bite I purchased and feel I got a good value for what I spent on this grinder.

Title: Excellent quality efficient grinder
Review: Ordered this to primarily simplify food prep for my three dogs and secondarily for use in grinding meat for my consumption. This has greatly simplified and shortened food prep time for my three dogs. They are raw fed and each eat different amounts, so cutting and prepping used to take hours for two weeks of their meals, 3 x 2meals x 14days. I now grind 18-24 pounds of meat + organs and can just weigh the right amount of ground meat in their prep containters. Takes about an hour to grind and portion. That includes weighing, cubing, grinding, portioning and clean up. 10lbs of meat and organs takes maybe 5 minutes at the most to grind once and maybe another 5 for a second grind. I don’t even have to push the meat thru the hopper because the grinder just keeps pulling the cubed meat thru. It takes longer to cube than to grind. Prep and portioning is the majority of the time. The other thing to note is how quiet this grinder is. Noise is not even and issue while grinding. Cleanup is easy with the #8 stainless steel grinding mechanism. Soak everything for 5-10 minutes in hot water then clean. Have only ground beef a few times for burgers and immediately noticed the difference in taste grinding my own fresh meat. Eventually will try to make sausage. Just based on the time it’s saved in food prep for the dogs, this has been a very worthwhile purchase,

Title: Great, buy it!
Review: We’ve processed 5 deer and 2 elk with this and it had no problem. With each deer it’s never bogged down with more power to go. Its grinded with ease even when the meat was frozen. The quality of this machine is great. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. Functionally is a 10/10. After each grind the heat level never got over heated. It’s saved us $$$

Title: Grinds meat effortlessly
Review: Grinds meat effortlessly, We grind our own meat to avoid any fillers the store may use and less fat. Also grind my own venison to make sausage, butcher shops mix everyones meat together to make their sausage. Ground 20 lbs of chicken in less than 5 minutes. So much better than our old Olster. Can’t wait for hunting season to make more venison sausage.

Title: Best buy I’ve made for my at home butcher shop.
Review: Pretext: I was a butcher for 5 years and have been hunting and processing my own game for over 10 years. I made the step up to this from the standard cheapo Cabelas grinder. Those things suck, I’m sorry if you wasted money on one too but BassPro has a great return policy and they’ve merged now. Anyway I needed an upgrade and After doing some research and crowd sourcing for something capable but not too big for home use (mind you well over 70% of the reccomendations I got were for Lem Big Bite #8).This thing is great. I processed 3 (illinois) whitetail deer this year and it moves 5x faster than the grinder I had before. I have had absolutely 0 issues or complaints. It comes apart and cleans easily but stays together and sturdy while I’m working. The feed tube is idiot proofed in that I probably couldn’t fit my hand in there but its still big enough to work at a steady pace. I could easily get 30lbs double ground in a half hour. No thats not lightning pace but its not bad for something that fits on the kitchen table. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it on the kitchen table but it would fit there. I clean my grinder and keep it in the original box under my butchers table.I cant think of any cons or complaints… its kind of expensive but I suppose this is an instance where you really are paying for quality.

Title: worth every penny
Review: We kept buying “stainless steel” grinders on the cheap only to find out they were weak and the only thing steel about them was the low quality stainless steel exterior. The aluminum augers would become so nasty and corroded that you couldn’t imagine letting food come in contact with it. We love the Lem. The quality is amazing. Every piece is a well machined heavy stainless steel that cleans easily. We expect it will last us many years. When we bought it we had no idea that there were attachments. We just bought the juicing attachment to make tomato sauce.

Title: powerful, fast, quiet, solid, easy to use, but …
Review: plates are not stainless steel (see attached pic), rust already present, disappointing. looks like sheet metal stamped then ground to flat, but not inside the holes. i hope the parts won’t start rusting after washing.also, the meat tray has sharp un-finished edges from stamping.

Review: I spent more money than I wanted to and more time reviewing an item than usual but ended up with the LEM #8 which is more than I need for weekly home use (a #5 would have sufficed but wasn’t available at Amazon.ca). The unit itself and all major grinding parts i.e. Auger, knives, plates and large meat pan (clips onto the handle) are stainless steel except the meet stomper (available in S.S.) and sausage adapters. So far the butcher meat I’ve been grinding feeds by itself (who needs a S.S. stomper??) in this powerful (.5 Hp) very quiet grinder and it doesn’t even get warm. Previously I used to use an old nickel plated hand clamp on grinder so this is a real treat. The bonus of the #8 is I will use this during hunting season for large amounts of game meats and sausage making without hesitation.

Review: Ground up 120lbs of meat for sausage and this grinder was phenomenal, I couldn’t keep up as I’m used to my old cheap grinder. Handled semi frozen meat like a boss. Will definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a heavy duty personal use grinder. Haven’t tried the sausage stuffing function as I have a separate stuffed, but I feel like that would be difficult just as any other grinder would vs an actual stuffer

Review: This grinder looks and feels like a commercial machine. Heavy, good quality stainless steel. I used it to grind and stuff 10lb of meat into sausages. Like all meat grinders at any price the meat must be near frozen for smooth operation. Even as a stuffer as long as the meat is near freezing it works like a charm, it’s just slower than a dedicated sausage stuffer but works fantastic, I’m going to put off buying a stuffer now that I know how well this machine handles the task. 6 out of 5 stars.Pulled my meat out of the freezer about 26 hours before grinding and put in the fridge. (1.5 plus 2.5 kilo packs of shoulder) and it was the perfect temperature, hard to cut cause it’s still partially frozen.Exceedingly happy with this unit.
