Title: Worth the money
Review: I bought this for the bar I am building in my basement. I have 2 sets of speakers in the bar (one set in the ceiling, the other in the wall), one set outside by the deck, and one set in the garage. Orginally, I just plugged all the speakers into my Yamaha reciever and that worked ok. But I had to turn the reciver way to loud in order for the deck speakers and garage speakers to be audible. With the Niles speaker selector, the sound seems to be alot “cleaner”. I am sure some audio-philes out there will know why, I personally do not care about the why, I just know it sounds more betterer. :-)As a bonus, I can turn each set of speakers either on or off AND control the volume of each set. That is awesome! So the main speakers are nice and loud, and the ones in the ceiling are turned down just a bit and sound perfect! Now the people enjoying a beer right under the ceiling speakers will not have their ears blasted out. I can turn the speakers off in the garage for those late night festivities…see, my 5 year old’s bedroom is right above the garage, so she can hear the speakers and won’t go to sleep because she knows there is a fiesta goin’ on and she is missing out on the fun. Now, I can turn those garage speakers off with a click of a button! The unit is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. All I can say is that it works and works well. It seems to be built well too. It is heavy and the buttons and volume controls are sturdy.Worth the money and recommended.

Title: Best speaker selector for the money hands down
Review: The Niles speaker selector is well built and solid. The removeable wire connections on the back are a big plus when you’re working with this many wires, often in a tight space. The volume and switch controls are very crisp and solid and the sound is excellent. I’m running six sets of speakers in/around my home with this unit and it’s working great. I can adjust individual room levels to accommodate for different speaker sizes (inside versus outside) and keep everything balanced. Of course turning them off altogether is a very nice function as well. I expect years of reliable service from this product.

Title: Not For Audiophiles
Review: Definitely lost some of the quality of the sound of my music. I don’t recommend this if you are a true audiophile. Will work great for the average consumer. Nothing wrong with this product, but a serious music listener will notice the sound loss. Restricts the headroom of the speakers and changes the accuracy of the sound. Niles does have excellent customer service though.

Title: and the receiver is working fine. We are in the process of sending this …
Review: We used this device for about 2 months very limited. Then, it kept tripping our receiver due to some sort of short. We replaced this unit, and the receiver is working fine. We are in the process of sending this back.

Title: Professional quality in every aspect
Review: I had a small unit that switched speaker on and off and the speaker wire kept popping out. I purchased the 6 station Niles to replace it. This unit has some physical weight, there is nothing tinny about it. The knobs and switches have a smooth yet positive feel. The attachments for the speaker wire are really the best part for me. You can remove the attachment blocks for each speaker, attach the wires (screw clamps) and then slide the blocks into the back of the unit. This is extremely helpful if your stereo is in a tight location as mine is. Also, the size of the wire openings is large enough to accommodate heavier gauge speaker wire. Finally, I am very happy being able to adjust the speaker volumes in different locations from the stereo. I have two sets outside and they have to be turned up higher, yet I don’t want to blast out people inside.

Title: Niles SSVC6 Speaker Selector w Volume Control
Review: This was just what I was looking for. The unit works as described and was easy to set up. My main goal was to be able to turn speakers off/on and independently control the volume in different rooms of the house and outside by the pool. I do agree with the reviewer that noticed a slight loss in quality of sound. However, for the price point I like the unit and would recommend to others. Unless you are an audiophile you will be happy.

Title: A Great Buy For A Sound Junkie
Review: I really like thiis product a lot. It was very easy to install and gives me a great deal of control over the volume of my different speakers. I have three sets of speakers in my painting studio and it was recommended that I use something like this rather than hook my speakers up in a series (the way I had it set up)as it might cause damage to my receiver/amplifier by asking it to draw too much power to one set of speakers when I was actually running many. I have a couple of channels left over if I choose, later, to add more speakers. At this great price ( I had hunted around and compared prices. Some professionals recommended I jump on this) I could not resist the extra channels even if I don’t use them until some later date. I am a sound junkie. I will likely buy another for the house, where I have the same set up.

Title: Quality product that performs it’s function flawlessly.
Review: The reason to go to individual volume controls for each speaker set is that when you want to send the same audio to more than one or all locations some will be too loud and others won’t be loud enough. With the Niles you set each speaker set to max then turn up the amp to the volume you judge to be right in the biggest room or maybe the room with all the rugs and tapestries. Then you go to all the other locations and adjust the individual volumes to the desired level. There is some trial and error here but it doesn’t take long to figure it out. I had this professionally installed and the installer commented that the wire connectors were easy to work with and solid. He also commented positively about the build quality.
