Title: Approved 🤙🏽
Review: Initially I had a difficult time adjusting for my son’s height, once I figured that out everything else was a breeze.I purchases 2 other moderately priced units so I could see them all. I ended up keeping this one.Took my 17 month old son out for a 4 hour hike in Hana. This worked perfectly especially the tent as it would turn into a downpour at any moment. He felt great on my back, I had a bit of shoulder fatigue after the hike, but nothing major.I found that it did bother his inner thighs a bit. They were red but no chaffing. Next day completely gone.So I’m gonna give it the big thumbs up!

Title: Strong design
Review: The design on these products have significantly improved from my last purchase. As a female, the hip pads were often too small to provide any real comfort. However, the width of these hip pads work well. I am able to carry both my 36 and 25 kiddos around with ease.

Title: Better than the LT and SLT in every aspect. Our new daily driver
Review: We bought the original LT at REI a couple years back and have generally been very happy with it except for a few minor things like the lack of removable chin pad and the slightly inconvenient torso adjustment system. We switch carrying the baby (now toddler) between me and my wife quite often and the velcro based adjustment system on the LT took a good few minutes to dial in and it required a lot of dexterity. The SLT is the lighter version of LT and it lacks the included shade, every other feature is identical. The regular Poco is the Mercedes of the bunch, it has thicker padding on the shoulder and hip straps, gets better storage options and ditches the velcro torso adjuster for a cam version which takes seconds to adjust. That alone makes it more convenient to use for longer trips when we take turns carrying our 27lbs toddler in it.Here are the improvements over the others that have made it our to go option from now on:1. Seat height adjuster. We noticed that on the LT and SLT our toddler was sitting lower overall and couldn’t see over our heads which at times meant boredom. With the Poco we were able to lift the seat just enough to get a better view and that has improved irritability during longer hikes.2. Improved back air circulation mesh for the carrier. The other versions have a decent mesh system that lets the air circulate in the back but I almost always had a sweaty back after more than 30 minutes of wearing it. With the Poco my back was dry even after 3 miles (1h30) of hiking on mildly difficult trails. There seems to be more space between the mesh and the frame of the carrier on the Poco vs the LT and SLT.3. Food rests for the baby. These have also been a great addition to the carrier, we noticed that they are now requested when we forget to put them on so that’s a sure way of knowing they help.4. Improved position of the chest strap. This was always an issue for me as the chest strap would always end up resting against my neck regardless of how I adjusted the shoulder strap/torso height. On the Poco the strap sits lower on the shoulder strap and it actually works as intended.5. Easy access mesh storage on the back. We like to throw our phones or different items that we need quick access to in the back and not having to unzip the top storage compartment every time helps a lot.6. Removable chin (drool)/seat cushion pad. That is a great feature as the LT and SLT don’t have it and especially our LT would have definitely used that. It served during the earlier years of our baby’s life and the drool pad looks a bit tired. We tried cleaning it with wipes often but it still looks somewhat dirty. The same goes for the seat cushion, it’s always a good thing to be able to wash it in case there are accidents especially in the current age of potty training.7. More comfortable shoulder/waist straps. They are noticeably thicker on the Poco and it translates into comfort over longer trips. The LT and SLT are still competitive in that regard but the Poco just makes them even better.8. Bigger bottom storage compartment with better protected zipper covers. This is one is a marginal improvement but still a welcomed one. The compartment on the bottom seems about 20% larger than on the LT and SLT and it has a cover for the zipper which can improve its weatherproofing .Overall we are very happy with this and it has now become our daily driver.

Title: Ultra Baby Backpack
Review: I’ve reviewed a number of Osprey backpacks over the years, from book bag size to their largest internal frame packs. This baby backpack borrows many of the features found in their internal frame packs, making this a very comfortable, durable, and useful piece of equipment. At the heart of the backpack is the adjustable fit strap system. Sizing-wise, I think this pack falls in a medium range. It fits me fine (6-1, 200lbs) and it should do great for persons smaller than my build. I have it on the largest torso setting. I could see it being tight for a larger build person. The torso adjustment is easy to figure out and manipulate. The kickstand at the rear is very sturdy. I like how Osprey has fit a large compartment into this area beneath the child and between the legs of the kickstand. There is enough room for a day hike’s worth of food, diapers, and extra clothes (for your child). There is also a small zippered pocket on the top rear that accommodates keys, wallet, etc. There’s a quick grab stretch pocket on the rear as well, big enough to throw a child’s wind breaker. There are two stretchy compartments on the hip belt, enough to hold something like a granola bar. There are a few small loops on the belt as well, but there are no proper gear loops on the pack, something that I imagine was done for safety reasons. The seat area looks complex but makes sense once you’ve used it. Upon opening the seat, you bring the side arms up and into the associated buckles. This makes for a very sturdy frame around the child. There are various adjustments that work similar to the torso mechanism so that you can accommodate kids of different sizes. This is designed for children between 16 and 40 lbs. Parts of the seat area may be removed for washing, and this model has an ingenuous sun shade that unfolds like magic out of a rear zippered compartment. The real trick of backpacks like this is doing the lift to get it and the child on your back, alone. This is where the kickstand comes in handy because it will allow you to get the child situated in a stable fashion. Once your child is buckled in, do a two-hand lift to get the pack on one shoulder, and then twist yourself in.I’ve got the green pack and think it looks great. It’s a very practical color and won’t get as hot the black.
