Title: A Real Mixed Bag. Read review.
Review: I wanted some sort of functional table for my loft room, which also serves as additional guest space, so when I saw the on Amazon Vine, I gave it a try.First, the table: Quality, thick, smooth-edged tempered glass top. The base is particle board, presumably with a cheap veneer, because it is spray painted black. There were several small chips and irregularities in the veneer. Assembly was mostly very easy. No instructions, but a kid could put this together, like LEGOS.The glass top comes with 4 black packing bumpers, which need to be removed. Other than the nice glass top, the rest is nothing special.The Packaging: Oh my god, what a horror show. DO NOT OPEN THE BOX UP INDOORS! What a mistake. All the parts of the table are packaged in that hideous CHEAP Chinese styrofoam, filled with electrostatic activity, and when I opened the box, carefully, the stuff EXPLODED all over my entry area. I did my best to take everything into the garage, for the trash and cardboard recycling, and it trailed bits everywhere! I actually ended up getting my electric leaf blower, and needed to blow out my entire entryway and garage.On tip of that, inside all the styrofoam, they packed all of the wood pieces touching each other, with even a sheet of packing paper in between. No wonder there were so many little dings, chips, and irregularities.The glass and all the wood pieces were COVERED in bits of styrofoam and a tenacious, dusty film from the foam, and I had to clean everything slowly with Windex and a dishtowel. What a mess.SO, it took me literally 2 or 3 minutes to assemble the table, but an hour to clean all the parts first, and clean the petrochemical “snow” from my house and garage. What a joke.A good, tempered glass top is expensive, so if you already have a table that needs glass, this may be worthwhile. The table base is Ikea-grade stuff, at best.I was tempted to take another star off due to this ridiculous experience, but the table is OK, so long as you are not expecting “fine furniture.”
