Title: These are my main headphones
Review: These have been my main headphones for almost 2 years now. I moved from the 840s to these because I wanted open back headphones to save my ears. I was concerned about the bad reviews about the weird distortion that can happen, but I have never run into this issue. I don’t know if it is the type of music I produce or if I just can’t hear it? I am a singer-songwriter and have been diving into the home recording like so many folks over the last five years. I am happy with these. Though they do make me wish I had gotten them sooner since they help me uncover major mixing mistakes I made previously! I also find them to also be incredibly comfortable.

Title: Best I’ve tried
Review: I bought this on accident. I thought I was getting the 1540 closed back. I made a mistake and was going to return them, but then I plugged in just to see. I already have open back headphones in the Sennheiser HD660s that I love. I have to say these 1840’s are the best I’ve heard. The 660s is close but no match in the end. I guess I’m keeping the 1840’s. The sound is stunning and the high-end just a bit sweeter all-around. I will still get the 1540’s but this 1840 is the keeper. I guess I have 2 open back headphones. I highly recommend the 660s too, but the extra $100 for the 1840’s are worth it.

Title: Bought these by accident, but they are objectively good headphones.
Review: For my setup I required something on the heavier side of bass and picked these up under misunderstood information and for what I needed it did not suit the bill. However, that being said. These are actually very well built headphones, you can tell that these will last a long time. If you’re into music that demands clarity and treble then you will enjoy these headphones. They’re open-back but are well insulated in that respect which is a unique combination that are not common with other headphones in this category. If you’re looking for ABSOLUTE clarity with no muddle (almost to a fault, incredibly clear sound) then these are perfect. I will say though they are still a bit pricey for what they are but I assume it makes up for it with its excellent quality. You can see from other reviews that these will last a long time if they’re kept in good condition and retaining the same quality of output; that cannot be said for other headphones that may sound very good but are not exactly ones that are “buy once, keep forever”.The cons would have to be the proprietary cables and the weak bass. But I’m assuming those that are purchasing these are not necessarily looking for bass so that’s just a personal nitpick. If you need bass then you will extremely disappointing. And if you’re a bit hesitant to spend freely for sound then the value proposition is not so well either. Besides that these are great! Will return but that’s just because it did not fit what I needed for my taste; no fault of the headphones themselves. It’s as if I bought a van instead of a coupe, it could be a great van but I wanted a coupe, haha!

Title: Important
Review: These are not!! for any kind of bass music, hip-hop, rap, EDM, etc., because the bass is basically nonexistent. These are for natural music, rock, instruments, etc. Extremely clear sound, very comfy, but again, zero bass. Kind of hard to mix what you can’t hear.

Title: Best
Review: Choose these. SHURE is the best. You want the same brand as your mic. Almost too good, now when I edit music, it’s beyond what others can hear and tell. Goatcho’d.

Title: Where’s my refund?
Review: This didn’t fit my device. I returned it on April 3. It is now April 24! Still waiting for it to “be received “ before my refund can be issued. They have the product and my $500! Not happy!

Title: Impeccable sound across the entire frequency range
Review: Shure 1840 the good headphones for professional purposes. These headphones were released a long time ago, but I got to know them recently, it is a pity that not earlier. Amazing headphones.Someone once said on head-fi that Shure 1840 does 95% of what the AKG K812 does, and I completely agree with him.

Title: Awesome Headphones that compete with Headphones $1K
Review: I was looking for a new open back reference headphone. I originally was going to buy the Hedd Heddphone for my mixing and mastering purposes but ran into a financial emergency so I had to put those on hold and bought the the quick buy 1840s straight from China at steal of a price. I am music producer and I went in buying the 1840 with low expectations since I have Hifiman Jade 2 as my reference headphone. I am surprised, wow, these 1840’s definitely outperform my Hifiman Sundaras, Avantone Planar (muddy) and it also marginally beats the Beyer Dt 1990. The Shure 1840 even competes with my Hifiman Jade 2, on par with it in clarity or clearer, the Jade 2 only beats the 1840 with sound stage. I have to say I am satisfied for now with Shure 1840. The separation, clarity and imaging are top notch for dynamic drivers and out performs anything $1,000 and below. I am currently testing the Shure 1840 against my close backs Dan Clark Ether C which I use for reference/recording and will update later. There is no muddiness whatsoever in the 1840 compared to most $200 – 400 mixing headphones I have tried.

Review: Far better than the SRH1540. The 1540 are too bassy. The 1840 are just right. Good fit and comfort due to soft earpads and light weight, though the clamping is tighter than the 1540.The 1840 sound is superb; detailed, smooth, and elegant. They sound great with classical, jazz, folk, and rock. Even though they are fairly low impedance, the sound is drastically improved with a dedicated headphone amp. I tried them directly plugged into my MacBook Air and I liked them, but then I connected them to my FiiO amp and they really impressed me. At full price they are not worth $700, but on sale for $500, these are really nice entry audiophile headphones.

Review: These very comfortable headphones are simply musical, delivering a clear natural sound revealing the finest detail in the recording. You get to hear exactly what you have got, a good recording sounds great, a bad recording will sound terrible. If you are not pleased with the sound these headphones deliver, look first to the quality of the recording, and if listening to digital music played on your computer… the quality of the DAC. For digital music, if your budget allows AUD$300 don’t hesitate, just buy this Apogee Groove with an inbuilt Amplifier and ESS Sabre DAC, a high value musical DAC in my opinion: https://www.amazon.com.au/Apogee-GROOVE-Portable-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B00XR5HRBU/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=apogee+groove&qid=1622014926&sr=8-1 A delightful combo that will reveal nuances in your music that you have not heard before. I really enjoy mine.
